I absolutely know where you're coming from, obviously. And the one thing that basically saved Twitter for me was the fact that, yes, you can actually break the taboo, you really can unfollow people.

I don't know in how far that relates to unfriending people on Facebook, which I heard can be quite a drama, but if you feel there's something that gives you a weird feeling or takes away something from an overall good experience, get rid of it.

To me there's still a very distinct difference between a service like Twitter and a social network like Facebook, but that might be only me.

Oh, and should you really, really want to stay in touch with people over Twitter but just as well use it as the micro-blogging service it is, get a second account! One for social networking, one for news, updates and the like. I hear that should work out rather nicely.

As being conflicted to begin with, well, so was I and it seemed the series would prove me right at first, but boy have I been wrong in the end.

And you're in for a treat if you haven't watched 9-12 yet. You get a good grasp at what's probably coming in Season 2 (\o/) I guess. Those episodes make it rather easy to love the show.

I have huge soft spot for (almost) all things Whedon, too.

I had deep conflicts with Dollhouse as I really wanted to respect what Joss himself said about the first half of the season, that after yet another really bad FOX experience he was done with teevee, and was going to "Roger Corman" his way onto the Internet.

Then I guess he had a change of heart because he seemed to really believe in Dollhouse and wanted to make it work and by accounts I've read like yours, for the most part it did.

Between now and the beginning of S2(!) I'm going back and watching eppys 9-12 which I have not yet watched and I'm going to try to view them as if none of the extraneous stuff went on. I want to love this show, I really do.

Ah, the Twitterverse.

I have mixed feelings about it as well but you articulated my biggest concern--the private convos. going on "in front" of me.

It took me three tries--leaving for months, then coming back to finally get why Twitter is so useful and you've articulated them nicely in your post.

Just the same, sometimes I feel very much like I've got my face pressed up against the glass peering in, but never a part of the "in-crowd." (I cannot believe I just admitted that!)

I'm just wondering if there are any women - or men for that matter - out there who are 'easily manageable'. And if so, do they have brothers?
